Beautiful beaches and rolling countryside. Middle Cottage is ideally situated to enjoy all that East Lothian has to offer. From the cottage, you can take numerous paths of varying lengths to enjoy the surrounding countryside. The John Muir Way passes through nearby East Linton and can be picked up in either direction, North to North Berwick or South to Dunbar. The Lammermuir Hills are only 30 minutes drive south, where the scenery is wild and remote. Walkers are advised to stick to the hill tracks. The East Lothian coastline is stunning, sandy beaches, rocky cliffs and endless seascapes along unspoilt wild beaches. Ravensheugh Sands is a wide, expansive beach where the crashing Firth of Forth provides a playground for surfing and kitesurfing enthusiasts. Seacliff is a hidden beach down a small country track, a private beach with stunning views of Tantallon Castle and Bass Rock. North Berwick beach sits on the north side of the town and provides the fish and chip, seaside atmosphere for families. Whatever kind of beach you want, East Lothian can offer it and all within 20 minutes drive of the cottage.
